Hi, my name is Lisa, a Chief Stewardess in the yachting industry with 10 years of experience, as well as 8 years of hospitality experience prior to that. Being in the yachting industry has been a whirlwind of adventure, growth, challenges and some of the best experiences of my life, and I am excited to share my knowledge and experiences with all of you.
Why I want to help both aspiring and established crew….
I started out in the industry with my partner as a Sole Stewardess/Deckhand team on a 25m/85ft Luxury sailing catamaran, and today we are the Captain and Chief stewardess on a 50m/164ft world travelling Super Yacht.
From the get go I had to teach myself the ropes. This was daunting as I had to do EVERYTHING on my own, and through a lot of trial and error.
My saving grace was quite frankly thanks to the amazing crew I worked with and met along the way, some of whom are now my closest friends in the industry. No one blinked an eye when it came to helping me with sharing knowledge, tips, tricks, and lists. You all know who you are, and I will forever be grateful.
What it takes in my opinion…
- A positive attitude and determination to succeed
- The willingness to learn
- Stay organized and focused
- Look after yourself, mentally and physically.
- Be adventurous and open to new and exciting possibilities (not essential but trust me it’s worth it)
Moving up over the years to the position of Chief Stewardess on a 50m/164ft Motor yacht was unbelievable, and took a lot of research, planning and training. So here I am hoping to help make a difference in your yachting career.
This is for those of you trying to land their first job on a yacht, to the more experienced crew needing to fine tune their knowledge and skills, and even just for those of you looking for some extra inspiration in your daily tasks.
Welcome to my Seaworthy Secrets.
